The 200th COMPACT LINE goes to Sweden!

The COMPACT LINE of tool grinders from the Switzerland's Ewag AG have proved a powerful daily complement for tool grinding operators working in the finishing and re-grinding of high-quality indexable inserts for drilling and milling tools. The sales numbers tell the story: the 200th machine from the series left the factory after a small ceremony, headed for Swedish tool manufacturer SECO TOOLS AB.

Highest flexibility for efficient production

The delivered tool grinding machine includes an option for an additional sixth axis (C axis) that allows the periphery grinding along the circumference and the application of double-sided negative chamfers on turning plates in one continuous process. As Thomas Fischer, Product Manager at EWAG emphasizes, this option can easily be swapped out using the "Plug&Play" principle to the B axis in favor of other customer-specific clamping systems. This keeps tool grinder extremely flexible for efficient production of different cutting edges. In addition, the machine is equipped with a vision system (video camera) to meet the needs of SECO TOOLS AB. It automatically detects the position and exact placement of unground cutting edges on the pallets. This minimizes the time and effort required to prepare the blanks on pallets. It also ensures the highest level of process safety in automated batch grinding.

Unique machine concept

As the long-standing customer reports, "there is currently no comparable machine concept with this volume of accessories" on the market.  The globally active tool manufacturer was already a big fan of its Swiss supplier's products. With the investment in the latest COMPACT LINE grinding machine, SECO further expanded its machine portfolio from EWAG.  Its pool already includes long-running machines in the "EWAMATIC" range alongside the COMPACT LINES.
